Denver, CO (SportsNetwork. Christian Dvorak Jersey .com) - David Savard recorded the tie-breaking goal with 1:01 remaining to lift the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 4-3 win over the Colorado Avalanche at Pepsi Center. Brandon Dubinsky potted his first two goals of the season earlier to help the Blue Jackets bounce back from Saturdays 6-3 loss at Arizona. Ryan Johansen scored as well in support of Curtis McElhinneys 27-save effort. Colorado, which began its three-game homestand with a pair of victories, received goals from Jarome Iginla, Gabriel Landeskog and Cody McLeod. Semyon Varlamov finished with 23 saves in the setback. Savard committed a costly gaffe in the games opening minute, turning the puck over in his own end to set up Iginlas marker just 30 seconds in. The blueliner atoned for the miscue with time winding down, however, one-timing a give from Nick Foligno that Varlamov couldnt handle as it trickled into the Colorado net. It was not my best game, but everybody kept positive about the mistake, Savard said. Foligno made a great play (on the winning goal). I was just happy to get open and get the puck. The Avalanche had battled back from one-goal deficits twice earlier, the last when McLeod snuck a wraparound attempt under McElhinneys skate to knot the score at 3-3 with 4:30 left in the second period. We came back, but it was tough to give up that last-minute goal, Iginla remarked. Colorados Matt Duchesne had a shot rattle off the post just seconds after McLeods goal. Teammate Alex Tanguay also caught iron on a breakaway chance previously in the period. We had our chances, said Iginla. We played a good, hard, disciplined game. One more minute, we would have had it. The Blue Jackets recovered from Savards early mistake behind Dubinsky, who pulled Columbus even with 8:25 elapsed in the first period with a nifty re-direction of Cody Goloubefs centering pass. He later sent his team in front 1:37 into the second by collecting a loose puck in Colorados end and firing it by Varlamov. Colorado, which racked up 19 second-period shots after mustering just three in the first, forged a 2-2 tie less than four minutes later when Landeskog fought off a check and drove to the net before beating McElhinney with a well-placed backhander. Johansen put the Jackets back in front less than 2 1/2 minutes afterward by connecting on a quick shot from the slot off a crisp pass from Scott Hartnell. Game Notes Goloubef, Hartnell and Foligno each had two assists for Columbus, with Goloubefs his first two as an NHLer ... Johansen extended his point streak to seven games, during which hes posted three goals and four assists ... Dubinskys goals were the 100th and 101st of his career ... The Blue Jackets havent dropped back-to-back games since an 0-5-1 slide from Nov. 18-29 ... Landeskog had gone 14 straight games since his last goal, which occurred Nov. 29 against Dallas. Tony Parker had 33 points and nine assists and San Antonio never trailed in a resounding 116-92 victory over Portland, bullying the younger Trail Blazers in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals.(SportsNetwork.com) - Following a tough, shootout loss to the Washington Capitals, the Calgary Flames will try to get on track when they face the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Flames had a pair of early three-goal leads versus Washington, but the Capitals rallied and eventually won a 5-4 shootout decision. The Flames lost their season opener for the fourth straight year despite goals from David Jones, Lee Stempniak and Jiri Hudler in the first 16:22 of the game. "Very happy with the effort, obviously disappointed with the result," said Flames coach Bob Hartley. "Just dont be glad to be in the NHL, when you have a 3-0 lead, you have to find a way to keep it." Karri Ramo, in his first regular-season NHL game since April 11, 2009, gave up four goals on 39 shots for the Flames. Lance Bouma also scored in the loss, while captain Mark Giordano had two assists. Calgary begins a three-game residency with its home opener versus Vancouver on Sunday. Aiming for just their second postseason berth in franchise history, the Blue Jackets finished the lockout-shortened season tied with the Minnesota Wild for the eighth seed in the Western Conference. However, the Wild had three more non-shootout wins to earn the tiebreaker and send the Jackets home early yet again. Columbus wrapped the shortened season 19-5-3, but that came after a 5-12-4 start. The Blue Jackets had a much more positive offseason than the previous summer, when they dealt superstar Rick Nash to the New York Rangers. They added Marian Gaborik in-season frrom the Rangers during the shortened campaign and signed Nathan Horton to a seven-year deal. Mikkel Boedker Jersey. Horton, though, isnt expected to be ready for game action until around December due to offseason shoulder surgery. Columbus will have a full season of Gaborik, a three-time 40-goal scorer who fell out of favor in the Big Apple, and also return reigning Vezina Trophy winner Sergei Bobrovsky to net. Bobrovsky was acquired prior to last season from the Philadelphia Flyers for draft picks and eventually took over the full-time job from Steve Mason, who was later traded to the Flyers in a separate deal. Bobrovsky won eight of his final nine starts and went 21-11-6 in the campaign with a 2.00 goals against average, .932 save percentage and a career-high four shutouts. Bobrovsky posted a 1.64 GAA and .945 save percentage in 20 games at home last season and gets the call tonight for Columbus Eastern Conference debut. The Blue Jackets shifted to a new conference and division following realignment as they now reside in the Metropolitan Division. However, theyll face a former Western Conference foe in the Flames, who the Blue Jackets are 5-0-2 against the in last previous seven meetings. Columbus is 4-2-0 in its last six season openers and begin the campaign without forward Jared Boll due to an upper body injury. Defenseman Fedor Tyutin is questionable because of a lower body issue. The Jackets play five of their next six on the road following this game, while the Flames wrap a two-game swing to open the season with this stop in Ohio. ' ' '
