导出博客文章BOSTON -- Boston Colleges postseason hopes will live on for another week.Patrick
Towles passed for 183 yards and a touchdown in his final home game, Davon Jones
added a rushing score and Boston College defeated UConn 30-0 on Saturday.Eagles
senior linebacker Matt Milano added a 19-yard interception return for a
touchdown in the fourth quarter.Boston College (5-6) can become bowl-eligible
with a victory in its regular-season finale at Wake Forest next week.It felt
great to be in the locker room with them after they won this game, Eagles coach
Steve Addazio said. Im looking forward to having an opportunity to win one more
and get six.Neither team entered Saturday having produced much on offense in
recent weeks. The Huskies (3-8) started freshman Donovan Williams at quarterback
for the second straight game in an attempt to jumpstart an offense that entered
the day averaging an FBS-worst 16.5 points per game. But UConn managed just 121
yards of offense, with Williams throwing three interceptions.A disappointing
loss, UConn coach Bob Diaco said. Hard to win. When you dont have production on
one side of the ball it becomes impossible. Itll be fixed. I know what the
issues are and theyre going to be fixed -- and thats why were disappointed. The
Eagles, whose offense came in averaging an FBS-worst 295.5 yards per game, had
better luck.Towles had struggled throwing the ball this season, but found a
groove in the third quarter completing 5 of 6 passes in the Eagles first drive
out of halftime. The series ended with his 10-yard touchdown pass to Michael
Walker that put BC in front 17-0.We talked all week -- weve got two games to
make this season special. Check one, right? Towles said. Weve got a one-game
season left.THE TAKEAWAYUCONN: The Huskies have tried to shake things up
offensively in their past two games, but they havent moved the needle much. It
was a particularly rough day for Williams, but all the experience is good for
the young quarterback going forward.BOSTON COLLEGE: The strides the Eagles made
offensively come at the right time. They will need it in their finale next week
if theyre going to earn their third bowl berth under coach Steve
Addazio.TURNOVER BATTLEBCs defense forced a season-high four turnovers (three
INTs, fumble recovery). It was the most since the Eagles had five against Notre
Dame on Nov. 21, 2015.SERIES DOMINANCEThe Eagles earned their 10th straight
victory in their series with the Huskies. BC has outscored the Huskies in those
games 297-59.SHUTOUT WINSThe victory was Boston Colleges first shutout win since
a 76-0 win over Howard on Sept. 12, 2015. It was the first November shutout for
the Eagles since a 17-0 win over Notre Dame on Nov. 8, 2008.HONORING RYANBC
retired the jersey of former quarterback Matt Ryan at halftime Saturday.Ryan
passed for 56 TDs and more than 9,000 yards at BC, and capped off his career by
being selected third overall by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2008 NFL draft. He
remains the schools highest draft pick in any sport. Among those in attendance
for the ceremony was former BC coach Tom OBrien.Im really honored to have my
jersey hanging up there, and very proud, Ryan told the crowd after his jersey
was unveiled. It joined the previously retired jerseys of Heisman Trophy-winning
quarterback Doug Flutie, Outland Trophy winner Mike Ruth, and nine other former
Eagles.Ryan was visible throughout the day. It included him leading the team in
the pregame Eagle Walk through campus and into Alumni Stadium, a game-day
tradition started when coach Steve Addazio arrived in 2013.UP NEXTUCONN: Returns
home to host Tulane in its season finale.BOSTON COLLEGE: Hits the road for its

.ca. Hey Kerry, big fan of yours, just finished reading your book.
I think that we all saw the Canucks/Flames line brawl just after puck drop. It
was obvious that something was about to happen, even to the referees because the
fourth lines were on to start.BALTIMORE -- Houston Astros pitcher Bud Norris was
scratched from his scheduled start Tuesday night amid speculation he could be
traded before the non-waiver deadline. "They scratched me for a lot of reasons,"
Norris said. "Its a little unfortunate. I wanted to go out there and pitch, but
I understand theres a lot of stuff swirling around me." Lucas Harrell replaced
Norris as Houstons starting pitcher against the Baltimore Orioles. "Its one of
those things, from an organizational standpoint, you have a guy that has
attracted a lot of interest from other ballclubs, and you look at the trading
deadline looming," manager Bo Porter said. "It just made more sense to not risk
injury at this juncture of the conversation, because the conversations have
gotten a little deeper." With the deadline of Wednesday at 4 p.m. drawing
closer, it was possible Norris had pitched his last game for Houston. "I dont
know. I dont want to put any numbers on it," Norris said. "Everybodys
speculating, and where I could go, stuff like that. But its really out of my
hands. Its for the GMs and the front offices to decide. I just want to play
baseball, for wherever I am. And right now Im still an Astro, and thats where my
focus is." And if he isnt dealt? "If he doesnt get traded, yes, hes available to
pitch (Wednesday) because the trading deadline would have passedd by 7 oclock
tomorrow night," Porter said.dddddddddddd Norris is 6-9 with a 3.93 ERA in 21
starts with Houston. His six wins are tops on the club and his $3 million salary
is the highest on the rebuilding Astros, a major league-worst 35-69 at the start
of the day. "I guess I was a little surprised by it, but I understand the reason
behind it," Norris said. "Ive been talking to my agent about it, and he
understands why as well. So you have to go with it. Theres nothing I can do. I
cant complain about it." Norris, who started opening day for the Astros, is one
of the teams biggest stars. Thats why hes the topic of trade talk around the
league. "Its a credit to Bud Norris," Porter said. "When multiple teams are
after your services, it speaks volumes to what it is youve done in the game of
baseball and what other people think about you." Orioles manager Buck Showalter
originally planned to start eight left-handed batters against Norris.
Left-handers are batting .306 against Norris this season. Instead, Showalter
shuffled his lineup for Harrell. "Harrells pretty good. Hes been starting for
them all year," Showalter said. "Does it make (Norris) more valuable by pulling
him out, knowing you can start him the day you get him? Are you getting better
players back because hes ready to pitch right then? I dont know. Thats their
    business." ' ' '
