, I must start this article by addressing Davante
Adams:Through 16 weeks in ESPN PPR leagues, Adams finished number one in points
with 305 — out-pacing Tyreek Hill, DeAndre Hopkins, Adam Thielen, and Julio
Jones who finished second through fifth, respectively. In Yahoo leagues, Adams
edged out Antonio Brown by three fantasy points, and in NFL.com leagues, he
finished second to Brown by one point. Technically, there’s still another week
in the NFL season, but if you’re playing into Week 17, you have legitimate
qualms with your fantasy commissioner. Adams was a force all season long, and
showed up when it truly counted for fantasy players. During the heavy bye weeks
(weeks 9-11), Adams had 16, 21, and 26 PPR points. It’s almost like Adams had
himself on several big-money fantasy teams. There was also not a single week in
which Adams had single-digit fantasy points. If there was any one player that
you could always count on to get his, it was Adams. Adams is enjoying his best
season as a pro, even as the Packers miss the playoffs. In 15 games, he has set
    career highs in
    targets Justin

, receptions, receiving yards, touchdowns and
first downs. There was plenty of reason to double team Adams all season long,
with Randall Cobb injured and the other rookie wide receivers finding their
footing, but Adams was still reliable. In a lost season that saw Mike McCarthy
fired, Aaron Rodgers struggling, and the defense suffer injury after injury, it
was Adams who was the brightest light in the darkness. As we look towards the
2019 season, we can look forward to even bigger things from the Fresno State
product. He has just turned 26 years old (Happy Birthday!) and will still remain
Rodgers’ favorite target. He’s an excellent route runner, caught 65.7 percent of
passes this season, and knows exactly how to get open on extended plays. So
here’s to Davante Adams, the 2018 WR1! Matt LaFleur is stepping into an
interesting situation in his first gig as a head coach. The new Green Bay Packers
boss (well, not official as we write this, but soon enough), inherits one of the
best quarterbacks in the game (when healthy) in Aaron Rodgers, a Pro Bowl
receiver in Davante Adams and a young, up-and-coming defense.More Packers

beyond rooting against Chicago or Minnesota). To do so, LaFleur will be going
against Packers history. No first-year Green Bay head coach has led the team to
the playoffs in his initial year at the helm. As in ever. Not Curly Lambeau. Not
Vince Lombardi. Not Mike Holmgren. No one.Interestingly, only five had a better
record in his first season with the Packers than the previous season, and two of
those just meant getting three and four wins that initial year. However, each of
the past two Green Bay head coaches did improve the team’s record in his first

championships won before there was a playoff systemOf course, none of this means
LaFleur can’t lead the Packers to the playoffs in 2019. A look around at the
current NFL coaches shows that while it’s not common for a first-year head coach
to lead his team to the postseason, it isn’t like it’s never happened. Two
coaches who were in their first year this season led their team to the playoffs.
The same in 2017. Others have led their team to the playoffs in subsequent
seasons (probably one reason they are still head coaches in the NFL; we aren’t
including those fired after the 2018 season).Keep in mind that, of course,
circumstances can help or hurt a first-year coach. For example, Drew Brees
joined the Saints in 2006 and Andrew Luck was healthy in 2018 after missing all
of the previous season, while on the flip side Jon Gruden and the Raiders dealt
away some key players this year. But — and good news here, Packers fans —
generally speaking teams improved in the first year under the active head
coaches. OK, not Bill Belichick, but we think things have still turned out
pretty well for New England.CURRENT NFL HEAD COACHES, FIRST YEAR WITH
