导出博客文章PHOENIX -- Hunter Pence is on quite a roll for the San Francisco Giants.Pence
had three hits, including a solo homer, and Johnny Cueto pitched seven solid
innings to lead the Giants to an 11-3 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on
Saturday night.Pence has seven hits in eight at-bats in the first two games of
the three-game set. He is the first major leaguer to score four runs in
consecutive games since David Wright of the Mets accomplished the feat in August
2005.Thats baseball, the ebbs and flows. Just trying to have good at-bats and
trying to feel good, Pence said. I dont really dwell on it too much, just keep
going and get ready for tomorrow.Cueto (15-5) allowed two runs and three hits
while improving to 6-1 in eight career games at Chase Field. He struck out six
and walked two in his fifth start against Arizona this season.I felt good with
everything I had. I executed my pitches, Cueto said. I just want to keep moving
forward and keep supporting the team, and I pitched the way I wanted to.San
Francisco jumped out to a 5-0 lead against Archie Bradley (6-9). Pence singled
and scored on Joe Paniks double in the second, and Cueto helped himself during
the Giants four-run third.Buster Posey tripled in Angel Pagan and scored on
Brandon Crawfords double before Cueto hit a two-out RBI single. Cueto waved his
left arm wildly as he ran to first base in an effort to get the Giants to send
another runner around third base for home.Pence opted to stay at third and then
scored on a Bradley wild pitch.I really wanted him to score, Cueto said with a
chuckle.Peter OBrien, hitting for Bradley in the third, homered over the
Diamondbacks bullpen for the first hit of the game off Cueto. The All-Star
right-hander didnt allow another hit until Jake Lambs double in the seventh. He
did a great job of disrupting timing, Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale said. Guys
were not able to square him up. I dont think we had many well-hit balls off him.
He was moving the ball all around, up, down, in, out. He was using his cutter
effectively.Yasmany Tomas hit his 28th homer in the ninth for Arizona, which has
dropped five in a row.Panik, Pagan and Eduardo Nunez had three hits apiece for
San Francisco, which stayed four games back of NL West-leading Los Angeles.
Pagan tripled and scored on Silvino Brachos wild pitch in the eighth.A lot of
guys had good days, Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. And then you look at what
Johnny did. ... (Pence) is swinging well right now. Hes doing a nice job with
two-strike hitting.San Franciscos Brandon Belt lost a three-run home run on an
umpire review in the eighth. Replays showed the ball hit below the yellow line
in center field. Belt was credited with a two-run double.Bradley lasted three
innings and allowed five runs and eight hits in his shortest start of the
season.LET THERE BE TWILIGHTThe retractable roof over Chase Field parted to
reveal the early evening sky. The roof opened as the fifth inning got started.
Game-time temperature was 98 degrees outside.TRAINERS ROOMGiants: Nunez injured
an ankle on Friday night but it wasnt serious enough to keep him out of
Saturdays lineup.Diamondbacks: OF A.J. Pollock had a scan done on his injured
groin, and he has a strain that could cost him the rest of the season. Hale said
Pollock will need at least a week before he resumes physical activity, but added
the strain is treatable and didnt rule out a return. ... C Chris Herrmann is out
for the rest of the season with a broken hand that will require surgery.
Herrmann was injured on a slide Friday night. ... LHP Andrew Chafin had an MRI
after he felt shoulder tightness warming up in the bullpen on Friday. Some of
these injuries are really freaky injuries that were having, Hale said.UP
NEXTGiants: LHP Matt Moore faces Arizona on Sunday afternoon. Moore (9-11) is
set to make his 29th start of the season and eighth with the
Giants.Diamondbacks: RHP Zack Greinke (12-5) faces the Giants on Sunday. Greinke
is 9-1 with a 2.35 ERA in 13 career starts against San Francisco.

. The 29-year-old Baines has established himself as one of
the top attacking full backs in the country and was the subject of two bids from
United during the last off-season. Everton manager Roberto Martinez says that
keeping Baines at the club is a "massive boost and exciting for the future"
because he brings "maturity and football knowledge in a very specialized
position on the pitch" and an "infectious and positive influence to the rest of
    the squad.

.Y. -- Marcell Dareus and the Buffalo Bills defence made life
miserable for Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco. TORONTO -- The United States scored two
goals in two losses at the World Cup of Hockey before being eliminated. In the
first period of Team North Americas game against Sweden, U.S.-born players
scored three goals all by themselves. The players -- Auston Matthews, Vincent
Trocheck and Johnny Gaudreau -- werent eligible to be picked for Team USA, but
they are part of a wave of young American stars that should be part of
international competitions for years to come. You could argue some of those guys
would have made our team or been in consideration for making the American team,
U.S. star Patrick Kane said Thursday. USA Hockey is in a good place. On Team
North America alone there are Matthews, Gaudreau, forwards Jack Eichel and
Brandon Saad and defensemen Shayne Gostisbehere and Seth Jones who should be
wearing red, white and blue if NHL players participate in the 2018 Pyeongchang
Olympics. Thats a silver lining for the U.S. after flaming out of the World
Cup.We got some great guys on our team and theres still some great guys on that
(U.S.) team, as well, Gostisbehere said. Its going to be a good blend of the
veterans to the younger guys. Its exciting to see.U.S. coach John Tortorella and
players implied that the team wouldve had a different look if American players
23 and under were eligible for selection and not bound to Team North America.
Even if Eichel, Gaudreau, Saad and Jones were the only likely candidates, they
would have helped. This World Cup was a failure for the Americans, but USA Hockey
gets to look forward to a time when Matthews might be its No. 1 center and
Gostisbehere and Jones two of its top defensemen. North American coach Todd
McLellan refused to pile on the U.S. for going 0-2 but praised his young
Americans, who blended well with young Canadians Connor McDavid, Nathan
MacKinnon, Colton Parayko and others. In my opinion they have a tremendous and
bright future ahead of them in USA Hockey, McLellan said. They all have things
to learn, and they have to grow up physically and mentally. But a lot of the
countries are doing a tremendous job right now, the U.ddddddddddddS.
included. The scary part for the U.S. is that Canada keeps churning out young
talent like McDavid, MacKinnon, defenseman Morgan Rielly and goaltender Matt
Murray. American depth may never match Canadian depth, but the influx of speed
and skill from Gaudreau, 2016 No. 1 pick Matthews, Eichel, Dylan Larkin and
Gostisbehere cant hurt. There is definitely a fantastic future coming here, not
only for the U.S.A., I think for Canada, also, Tortorella said. Theres some
pretty good players coming through for Canada. But yeah, there are some good
young kids there that, I think, theyll bring some juice to the program.U.S.
center David Backes said that if the 23-and-under players were available he
might not have been on the team. The same could be said of forward Brandon
Dubinsky and defensemen Jack Johnson and Erik Johnson. The only thing that might
have changed your outlook, yeah, if you had access to those guys (23) and under,
would you have changed the script, would it have given you a chance to maybe
look at that? general manager Dean Lombardi said. Would we have done it? Im not
sure. Those players were instead part of Team North America, which was quick,
skilled and easily one of the most exciting teams in the tournament. Those are a
lot of guys that are going to be playing for the U.S. and Canada real soon, U.S
winger Zach Parise said.Canada coach Mike Babcock said Team North America was a
glimpse into the NHL 10 years from now. Its closer to two, not only for the NHL
but for USA Hockey, even if players dont yet want to think ahead to 2018.Its a
long ways down the road and theres lots to be decided if thats going to happen,
defenseman Jacob Trouba said. Well see. They obviously have a lot of talent on
(the North American) team and theres a lot of talent on (the U.S.) team. Itll be
fun to see what happens if they come together.---Follow Stephen Whyno on Twitter
