Im not second guessing

BALTIMORE -- The Washington Redskins and Baltimore Ravens realize theyre not good enough to win blowouts week after week. So, its absolutely essential that they learn how to win the close ones. While the Redskins appear to be getting the hang of it, the Ravens still have some work to do.Combining a stingy defense with strong special teams play, Washington extended its winning streak to three games Sunday by defeating Baltimore 16-10 .We know these games are going to come down to the wire, coach Jay Gruden said. I dont know if well ever dominate everybody and win 53-3. We just have to stay resilient, focused and play hard for the entire length of the game. These guys so far have done a nice job of that.Washington (3-2) blanked the Ravens (3-2) in the second half, allowing only 125 yards and surviving a last-minute drive.Every game the Ravens have played this season has been decided by six points or fewer. They won the first three and lost the last two.We will let you guys talk about how bad we stink, but we know there is still a lot of football to be played, linebacker Terrell Suggs said. It could be a lot worse, but we know we should be in a better place. We have 11 games left, and we are going to go to work. Some things we learned about the Redskins and Ravens:MANY HAPPY RETURNS: Last season, the Redskins were a disaster returning punts, ranking 31st in the NFL at 4.8 yards per attempt. After five weeks in 2016, Washington is soaring at 24.3.Jamison Crowder served as the primary returner both years. So whats going on this season? From my perspective, the guys are blocking a lot better, he said. Im able to catch the ball and have a lot of yardage, even before the first defender is down there.Crowders 85-yard punt return in the first quarter was a huge boost for a team trying to dig out of an early 7-0 hole.I saw great blocking and an excellent run breaking tackles, Gruden said. Hes been outstanding for us so far in all phases.RUN TO GLORY: Even though the Ravens ran the ball well in the first half, their strength is passing the ball. So they abandoned their ground game after halftime, and the move did not produce the desired results.Baltimore gained 74 yards rushing over the first 30 minutes and led 10-6. After that, they ran six times for 21 yards against the leagues 30th-ranked run defense. Most of that is because we didnt get first downs, coach John Harbaugh said. You cant just run the ball. You have to make plays in the passing game.PACK YOUR BAGS: The Redskins have found their comfort zone on the road.Washington improved to 2-0 in away games and has won five straight on the road dating to last year.It is very satisfying for us to beat a good team like this at their place, quarterback Kirk Cousins said.It was the Redskins first win in Baltimore since they defeated the Colts at Memorial Stadium in 1955.Washington started last season 0-5 on the road.FAILURE TO CONVERT: Twice, the Ravens had outstanding field position from turnovers. Both times, they failed to capitalize on the gifts.Thats an annoying trend for a team that can use all the points it can get.In the second quarter, after Zachary Orr forced a fumble and jumped on the ball at the Redskins 15, the Ravens faced a fourth down at the 17 before a fake field goal went awry.We saw something we thought we could exploit, we gave it a shot, Harbaugh said. It didnt work out. Im not second guessing it.Later, C.J. Mosley picked off a pass at the 13. He brought it back 12 yards, but lost control of the ball at the one and it rolled out of bounds in the end zone, giving possession back to Washington on a touchback.---AP NFL website: and Wholesale Puma Shoes Australia . ENDICOTT, N.Y. -- John Riegger wasnt sure hed be able to play the second round of the Dicks Sporting Goods Open because of a lingering case of shingles. The pain subsided long enough for him to show his first round wasnt a fluke.Riegger followed his opening 66 with a 5-under 67 Saturday and is tied with Paul Goydos (66) for the lead at 11-under 133.Its kind of gone away, but the pain is still there and its just an after-effect of the attacks of the nerves, Riegger said after his second straight bogey-free round. I think its just the fact that Ive gotten used to it and dealing with it a little bit better. I know that nothings going to happen to me.First-round leader Scott Dunlap (70) was third at 10 under. Wes Short Jr. and Monday qualifier Neal Lancaster also shot 66 and shared fourth, another shot back at En-Joie Golf Club.John Daly and Stephen Ames shot 68 and were tied for sixth at 8 under with Bart Bryant (70), who is trying to become the first repeat winner of this Champions Tour event since its inception in 2007.Riegger thrived on the four par-5s on the narrow, tree-lined course. On Saturday, he birdied two of the three on the front side and eagled No. 12, the final par 5.This will be the first time Riegger has had the lead, or a share of it, entering the final round of a Champions Tour event.Im just trying to hope that I wake up tomorrow and I feel all right and I can play, he said.Goydos had four birdies and two bogeys on the front nine. But after another bogey on the back side he finished with a flourish -- birdie at the tough par-4 15th hole thats guarded by an imposing water hazarrd, eagle at the par-4 16th hole, and birdie at No.dddddddddddd 17.You go from 7 under to 11 under, Im still stunned a little bit myself, said Goydos, who drove the green at 16 to set up the lone eagle at the hole over two rounds. If you had strokes gained with lucky bounces, I would be leading that right now by a large margin.Daly, who turned 50 in April, is making his seventh Champions Tour start. Its his first appearance at En-Joie since the 1995 B.C. Open on the PGA Tour. He won there in 1992 and the gallery hasnt forgotten. It helps, and it always helps when youre playing good, you feed off of it, Daly said. A lot of times when things arent going good, the fans kind of pump me up to keep hanging in there.Daly had five birdies and a bogey on the front nine and two birdies and two bogeys on the back.I just remember that when I did win here, I felt comfortable off the tees, although its not showing this week, he said. I feel like I can hit the fairways, but Im just not executing a lot of them.Short started strong, notching four birdies and an eagle over the first 11 holes before a three-putt par at No. 12. The 52-year-old Texan finished with seven straight pars.Anytime you can be close going into the last nine holes, thats what you really want -- to have a chance to win it, he said.Jeff Maggert won this tournament last year, beating Goydos by two shots. Nobody will have to worry about Maggert this time. The defending champion was at 1 under and out of contention. ' ' '
