SALT LAKE CITY -- A judge on Monday ordered a suspended University of Southern California football player to stand trial on rape charges after a 19-year-old woman said marijuana and alcohol left her nearly unable to move during the attack following a summertime party in Utah. She testified that the sexual assault left her scared, helpless and injured, while Utah prosecutors laid out evidence against Osa Masina, 19 at the same hearing. The Utah native also has been investigated on similar allegations involving the same woman in California, but criminal charges have not been filed in that case. His lawyer, Rebecca Skordas, said Masina told police that the sex was consensual. The woman said that before the assault, she considered Masina a friend, whom she had known from high school in suburban Salt Lake City. She said she was on a couch in a friends basement and felt scared, like I needed to get out of there as soon as I could. She was treated by a sexual-assault nurse shortly after she made her way home, according to charging documents. The Associated Press generally does not name people who say they are victims of sexual assault.Masina watched the testimony impassively, sometimes closing his eyes. He declined to testify or comment after the hearing. He is charged with one count of rape and two counts of forcible sodomy.Skordas said the burden of proof is low for a case to head to trial, and the judge doesnt get to decide credibility. Masina is expected to enter a plea Friday.Prosecutors said Masina raped the woman after she drank alcohol and ate part of a marijuana cookie with him at a July 25 party in the city of Cottonwood Heights. He and his teammate Don Hill also were investigated after the woman said she was sexually assaulted two weeks earlier when she visited Masina in California, court documents say.She said the pair assaulted her at Hills off-campus apartment after giving her marijuana, alcohol and the anti-anxiety prescription drug Xanax. Masina took video and sent it to the victims ex-boyfriend, authorities said. The woman said she remembered parts of what happened in California but tried to deny them before she reported the Utah assault.I just hated the thought that someone I thought was a friend could take advantage of me like that, she said.Masina is appealing a decision to suspend him from USC. Hill also was suspended. Cheap Air Jordans Free Shipping . 31, the CFL club announced Monday. WASHINGTON -- Besieged by starting pitching injuries, the Los Angeles Dodgers are looking for solid outings from the starters they have left.Bud Norris gave them a maddeningly inconsistent one Wednesday night in an 8-1 loss to the Washington Nationals. Norris (5-8) struck out eight but allowed six earned runs on seven hits, including three home runs, before getting pulled in the sixth inning.Five innings, got some strikeouts, but its tough to win (when) they hit the ball out of the ballpark, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said.Norris got the start after South Korean left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu was put on the disabled list with elbow tendinitis. The Dodgers are also without three-time NL Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw because of a herniated disk in his back and wont have lefty Alex Wood for eight weeks after he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his elbow.Unlike many of the Dodgers other pitchers, Norris is healthy, but he was still victimized on home runs by Bryce Harper, Ben Revere and Jayson Werth. Harpers two-run home run was a 451-foot moonshot into the third deck in right field at Nationals Park in the first inning.Harper put a good swing on the ball in the first inning, Norris said as the understatement of the night. Roberts said Norris threw the 3-1 fastball into Harpers nitro zone. With the Dodgers scoring only one run on a single by call-up Charlie Culberson in the second off the Nationals Gio Gonzzalez (6-8), Norris didnt have much margin for error.dddddddddddd He did strike out Harper and NL batting leader Daniel Murphy before an RBI double by Wilson Ramos ended his night. But it was back-to-back homers by Revere and Werth in the fifth that Roberts said did the Dodgers in.Unfortunately in that fifth inning I thought I made a pitch that could have been really close, Norris said. I guess I had a mental lapse there.TRAINERS ROOMDodgers: Roberts said surgery was more of a possibility for Kershaw after a setback with the herniated disk in his back. ...
