导出博客文章Melbourne skipper Cameron Smith expects no shortage of niggle as he prepares to
battle Cronulla counterpart Michael Ennis for possibly the last time.Ennis will
retire at the end of the NRL season, meaning Saturday nights battle for the
minor premiership at AAMI Park could be his final showdown with Smith. There has
been no love lost between the hookers over the past 10 years - at both NRL and
State of Origin level.Ennis memorably mocked Smith in a 2014 elimination final,
patting the national skipper on the head after a rare error during the lopsided
match.Mick and I have had a fair rivalry for a while now and hes played several
games in State of Origin against me, Smith said.I dont know how itll pan out but
hes a fantastic player. He wants to win every battle hes involved in and he does
enjoy getting under the oppositions skin.Thats something we cant allow to affect
us this weekend. Theres no doubt hell be at his scheming best. The Storm lost
their cool in round four, when the Sharks successfully riled their opposition in
a 14-6 triumph.Cronulla prop Andrew Fifita in particular made it his mission to
get in the face of Smith and fellow Queensland star Cooper Cronk. They played a
really aggressive style of footy that night. They really got stuck into us,
Smith said.I dont expect too much different this Saturday night. So it really
comes down to the way we handle their physicality and aggression. I dont think
we handled it that well.Smith was full of respect for NSW skipper Paul Gallen,
another member of Cronulla he has plenty of history with.Hes been a warrior for
a long time ... hes been troubled by injury a lot the last 18 months but every
time he gets out on the field he gets through a mountain of work, Smith said.He
will turn up this week and have 20 carries and is going to be asking questions
of our defence all night, along with Michael Ennis. They are two wonderful
players who will be at their best this weekend.

. Rob Manfred, baseballs chief operating officer, testified last week during the
grievance filed by the players union to overturn Rodriguezs 211-game suspension.
A person familiar with the hearing, speaking on condition of anonymity, told The
Associated Press on Saturday that Manfred testified the sport wasnt concerned
whether Bosch distributed performance-enhancing drugs to minors because MLBs
interest was his relationship with players under investigation.

.ca. Kerry, Just watched the shootout in the
Coyotes/Leafs game and I have to ask, why was the James van Riemsdyk goal
allowed to count? All of the video replays we were shown on TV were
inconclusive about whether the puck had entirely crossed the line or not. They
had been shooting for gold all Olympics. But an air ball in the game that
mattered most means bronze is now the best the Australian mens basketball team
can aim for in Rio.They will play world No.2 Spain for third place after going
down 87-61 to Serbia in the semi-finals on Friday night (Saturday morning
AEST).The Boomers were a shadow of the team that had stunned many, including the
formidable United States, en route to the final four.Coming into the game,
Australia were the competitions best shooters. But all they could muster was 14
points to Serbias 35 in the first-half, and hit just 22 shots from 66 attempts
for the game.Even worse was their accuracy from the three-point line, sinking
only four off 31.It was pathetic, admitted NBA player Joe Ingles.Nothing
Australian about it.The Boomers had beaten Serbia by 15 points in the group
stage but the entertaining, slick ball movement that has become their trademark
went missing.Patty Mills and Brock Motum each scored 13 points, while Ingles
added 12 and seven rebounds. The Serbs were resolute in defence and, unlike
Australia, had no issue finding the basket. This is really the first time that
weve been challenged in this tournament and where things havent gone our way,
said coach Anddrej Lemanis.ddddddddddddIts an anomaly. Its a good test of
character for us now in terms of how we bounce back from disappointment.I know
this group and the pride that they have in the way they play the game and the
way they represent Australian basketball on the international stage. That will
hurt all of us over the next couple of days and I think well be anxious to get
back on court and put this right to some degree.Australia has never won an
Olympic medal in mens basketball, having finished fourth on three occasions - in
1988, 1996 and 2000.They face a tough task to break that duck against Spain who
were silver medallists at both the Beijing and London Olympics. Were Australian.
Were not going to back down, insisted Ingles.Weve got a lot to learn in a short
time.At the end of the day, weve still got a chance to do something that no
teams ever done from Australia. Were going to leave everything out there on
Sunday and take that bronze. The Americans beat Spain 82-76 in the earlier
semi-final to set up their third straight gold medal match against Serbia, who
are competing at the Olympics for the first time. ' ' '
