TAMPA, Fla. -- The Los Angeles Rams scored their first touchdown of the season in perhaps the most encouraging way possible: on a 44-yard pass from quarterback?Case Keenum to wide receiver?Brian Quick.The play came on the first drive of the Rams Week 3 contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from Raymond James Stadium on Sunday afternoon.Quick, who almost lost his spot on the roster because of an inability to secure the football, easily beat his defender off the ball on a post route. Keenum, whom many believe shouldnt even be the starting quarterback, perfectly hit him in stride.The hookup was set up on play action with the Rams star running back, Todd Gurley, a man who entered Week 3 looking to get going after gaining just 98 yards in the first two games. Play action was also a useful weapon for the Rams in last Sundays 9-3 win over the Seattle Seahawks.Keenums pass to Quick ended an eight-play, 75-yard drive that saw the Rams convert on two third downs. They entered the week as the only NFL team that had yet to score a touchdown, and wouldve become the first team since the 1976 expansion Bucs to go three weeks without one had they not scored on Sunday.Their first drive resulted in the first Rams touchdown while affiliated with Los Angeles since Christmas Eve of 1994.It was really big, Keenum, speaking after a 37-32 win, said of getting in the end zone on the first drive. I wanted the ball coming out. Coach [Jeff] Fisher said he wanted the ball. We wanted to go put some points on the board. We converted on some third downs, which were really big coming out of the gate, and [Quick] ran a great route on the past and spread it out there. He went and got it. It was great.
